TAMPA, Fla. – Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones, was shot and killed early Sunday in Tampa, his attorney Lewis Fusco confirmed .

Fusco stated that Jones, who had just turned 26 on Friday, was celebrating his birthday and staying at an Airbnb.

Fusco stated that there were too many people at the Airbnb where the celebration was taking place, and they had to leave. In an Instagram story, the rapper mentioned that police shut down the pool party and 'kicked' them out of the Airbnb. Several posts on his social media had advertised the event's location.

Fusco reported that the rapper secured a room at a Holiday Inn, where he was 'basically ambushed' in the parking lot.

'The victim in this morning's shooting is believed to be Charles Jones,' Tampa Police Public Information Officer Jonee’ Lewis stated in a press release. 'Positive identification is pending confirmation from the Medical Examiner’s Office.
